What happens at a Megazone birthday party?

Our aim is to look after all the aspects of your birthday party so you can relax and enjoy it as much as the kids. We provide the adult guests a seating area together in the cafe where you can see the laser arena on CCTV, then we host and supervise the children’s laser games and drinks breaks. They’ll have a safety briefing, talk through some tips on scoring points and having fun, then the birthday child/children will have their phasors sing happy birthday before the game begins. That special feature turns a regular phasor into a machine gun, which is what every child wants on their birthday - laser tag super powers! Between the games your party host will make sure the kids stay well hydrated and once the games are over, the children wash their hands and meet the host at our party table to sing happy birthday as the cake is presented. We take the cake back to the kitchen to slice and pop into party bags, and serve the children pizza & fries, topping up squash cups. Once the food is done we’ll have your party bags ready to take home. 

 

Is Parking free?

No. There are some on street pay and display bays on the surrounding streets. Lee Circle and Abbey Street MSCPs are within 5 minutes walk.

Can I bring my own food?

No, Megazone doesn't allow any external food or drink to be consumed in the venue. We include birthday cake in this rule, and will cut and wrap slices of your cake for your guests to take home with them.

What’s in the party bags?

They contain 7 items: a slice of your cake, a mini wrap of sweets, a punch balloon, a ray gun tattoo, a finger trap, a ballbearing puzzle and a mini deck of cards.

 

Will there be anyone else playing laser tag with my child’s party?

If you booked Bronze or Silver then yes, they'll will be other groups playing at the same time. The games will be supervised throughout by our trained marshall and all players will need to stick to the rules (no running, climbing or sitting on the floor, no physical contact, no foul language). Gold parties include exclusive use of the laser arena.

 

Can parents or siblings join in with laser tag?

Yes, with your approval. We charge £4 per game. 

 

What’s the best age for laser tag birthday parties at Megazone? 

Our party bookings cover all ages, from 6 years old to 21st birthdays to 60th celebrations. We strongly recommend that birthdays for under 10s are exclusive use GOLD parties. We have 12 guns (no vests) for children aged 5-7 or older kids and adults who just don't want to wear a vest. Our regular vested laser tag equipment is suitable for people 1.1m and taller. We tend to host younger children's parties 10am-4pm and older children's parties 5pm-9pm. 

 

Can I invite family and friends to the cafe?

We plan for an equal number of people to attend alongside the booked party guests. We have plenty of tables, sofas, a comfy movie room and an arcade to entertain siblings and other guests to your event.

 

What else is on sale?

Our cafe is air conditioned, serving bean to cup coffee, a range of soft drinks, slushies, made to order halal pizza, fries, and snacks.

Can I get food for the adults and siblings on the day?

Of course. When you arrive just let us know how many pizzas and kilo chip bowls you want and whether you would prefer them asap or around the same time as the children’s party. 

 

Can I set up a tab?

If you want a tab let us know on arrival or before by email before the party starts. We’ll do our best to accommodate your stipulations, whether you want your tab open to everyone or just your immediate family, open to everything we sell, just drinks or non alcoholic drinks, maybe an initial drink per guest... Just let us know. Bear in mind you might not arrive before all of your guests so you can arrange a tab with us by email before the day.

 

When do I need to pay the balance of the party?

On the day. That way the balance paid will accurately match your attending guests - we won’t charge for extra guests that can’t make it in the end. 

 

What if my child doesn’t like pizza?

We will serve a larger portion of chips for that child. We make the pizzas in house so we can accommodate certain requests like no sauce, no cheese. We also have violife grated for dairy free kids. 

 

What about allergies?

We welcome parents of children with severe allergies to email us in advance of accepting the party invitation, so we can discuss ingredients and options. We only have one pizza oven so although we can source gluten free pizza bases, the risk of cross-contamination in our oven means we cannot promise the finished pizza will be gluten free. However our fryer is gluten and dairy free and our fries contain no gluten. We have dairy free cheese for vegan pizzas. Our bases contain soy.

We ask every party to make sure their cakes are nut free and have allergens listed. We don’t allow cakes to be consumed on site and have a designated space and policies to avoid cross contamination from cakes cut in our kitchen. We have no nut containing products on our menu. We ask customers not to bring their own food and enforce this as well as we can, but we are aware there is always a risk of an allergen containing substance being consumed onsite by a party guest or another customer. 

 

Are we allowed in the arena to take photos?

Party parents are welcome in. Between games we can gather the children together for a group photo, and you are welcome to take pictures of your children during the game.

How do I get change for the arcades?
